A SIM card without the plastic. We explain what eSIM can do, what it cannot, and why it suits travel.
An eSIM is a SIM card built right into your phone. Instead of a plastic card, you “download” a carrier profile using a QR code or activation details. A phone can hold several profiles at once and switch between them in the settings.
You buy and install a foreign eSIM at home. After you land you switch it on and you are online, with no queue at an airport counter and no hunt for a shop. Your regular SIM stays on for calls and texts.
Dial *#06#. If an EID number appears, the phone supports eSIM. You can find a list of common models on the Compatibility page.
